Padre Pio, The Wonder Worker

Born in southern Italy in 1887, the Capuchin Friar spent the greater part of his saintly life in a remote mountain friary of that region. From the dramatic moment in 1918 when he received the stigmata, he attracted crowds from all parts of the world to the little town of San Giovanni Rotondo.

Apart from the stigmata, Father had many other exceptional charismatic gifts.  He read people’s hearts and obtained temporal and spiritual favors for many while he lived and even after his 1968 death. Countless pilgrims still travel today to San Giovanni Rotondo to pray at his simple tomb, years after he was canonized in June 2002.

This popular audiobook, read by Dr. Francis Kelly, includes a biographical sketch of the famous Capuchin.  Also included are true-life testimonies of Saint Padre Pio’s many extraordinary gifts including, bi-location, prophecy, reading hearts, healing and other exceptional charisms.

The interesting chapters in the audio\book were authored by a number of experts and devotees of the humble friar, including Fr. John Schug OFM Cap, Fr. Stefano Manelli FI, Mary Ann Budnik, Cardinal Ursi, Fr. Bernardino of Siena, Fr. Andrew Apostoli and many others.

Padre Pio, The Wonder Worker not only examines Father’s many gifts close up and from different perspectives, but is capable of challenging the faithless, of exciting interest among the wavering and of inspiring the faithful to strive for holiness.  The audio\book, as it recounts the life and heroic virtues of this modern day Saint, shows that the way to personal holiness is very much with us in our day.
